BG3 Patch 8 Is So Big, It Needs To Be Stress Tested

Larian has released a crucial Stress Test update to ensure Patch 8 for Baldur's Gate 3 runs smoothly before its official launch. This article delves into the details of the stress test, what it involves, and what you can expect from Patch 8.

Patch 8 Stress Test Update 1 Arrives With Bug Fixes

Only Available To Testers

BG3 Patch 8 Is So Big, It Needs To Be Stress Tested

Larian has introduced an update to the Patch 8 Stress Test build, addressing several bugs, crashes, and scripting errors. This update also ensures that Gale properly consumes magical items as intended. However, this update is exclusive to testers who have access to the Patch 8 stress test. Non-testers will need to wait for the full release of Patch 8 to enjoy all the new improvements and content.

Key highlights of the update include ensuring that containers within inventories retain their contents when destroyed, simplifying screenshot capabilities in Photo Mode for Steam Deck users, enhancing pose responsiveness, improving cross-play functionality, updating the Booming Blade tooltip values, and resolving several crash issues. For a detailed list of all the enhancements, visit the official Baldur’s Gate 3 website's news section.

As one of the last significant feature updates from Larian before they move on from the world of Faerûn, Patch 8 is poised to be a monumental update. The stress test is essential to ensure stability. Patch 8 will introduce platform cross-play, over 12 new subclasses, including a Death Domain Cleric, a Path of Giants Barbarian, and an Arcane Archer Fighter, along with the much-anticipated Photo Mode.

Photo Mode Is As Customizable As It Can Be

While awaiting the official release of Patch 8, players can explore an in-depth sneak peek video showcasing how to maximize the potential of the upcoming Photo Mode. Larian aims to ensure players get the "Absolute most out of Photo Mode from the start."

Photo Mode is accessible almost anytime, anywhere—during adventures, in combat, and even in multiplayer by the host player. You can set up companions and characters to pose exactly as you envision, with or without party members, or even add more characters like a jumping frog that dominates half the screen. The free-moving camera adds to the flexibility, allowing players to capture the perfect angle.

After setting up your scene, you can enhance your photo with post-processing effects, stickers, and frames. However, during dialogues and cinematic cutscenes, you're limited to adding post-process effects and cannot adjust poses.

This sneak peek is just the beginning, as Larian plans to release a tips and tricks video to further inspire and guide players in unleashing their creativity through photography within the game.
