DC's Batman once enjoyed a near-annual video game release, a testament to his enduring popularity. Rocksteady's acclaimed Batman Arkham series, in particular, revolutionized superhero gaming, setting a high bar for the genre that persists to this day.

Lately, however, Batman's video game presence has dwindled. A true standalone Batman game hasn't launched since 2017's The Enemy Within, and there's currently no official word on a new title. While comic book fans eagerly anticipate upcoming superhero games, those craving a Batman experience may need to revisit the classics to find the best titles.

Updated December 23, 2024 by Mark Sammut: Despite a recent lull in new Batman games, 2024 marked a significant year for the Dark Knight. He featured prominently in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, though this Rocksteady title isn't strictly a Batman game. The Arkhamverse also expanded with a new VR entry. This review has been updated to include expanded coverage of the VR game and additional image galleries showcasing some of the best Batman games.
