The teaser, debuted at San Diego Comic-Con, introduced Ryoma Takeuchi as the iconic Kazuma Kiryu and Kento Kaku as the antagonist, Akira Nishikiyama. Director Yokoyama highlighted the unique approach taken by the actors: "Their portrayal is completely different from the original," he stated in a Sega interview, adding, "But that's precisely what makes it exciting." While acknowledging the game's perfected portrayal of Kiryu, Yokoyama praised the series for presenting a novel perspective on both characters.
