Tarneeb is an engaging card game played by two teams, with each team comprising players seated opposite one another at the playing table. The game uses a standard 52-card deck, and the direction of play is counter-clockwise. Each player's goal is to estimate the number of Allmat (tricks) their team can capture in each round.
How to Play Tarneeb
The game begins with bidding. The player who wins the bid has the privilege to declare Tarneeb. They start by playing any card, and the other players must follow suit if possible. The highest card of the suit led wins the trick, but Tarneeb cards are considered more powerful than any other suit. If a player cannot follow suit, they may play any card, but Tarneeb cards always trump others unless a higher Tarneeb card is played. The round continues until all players have played their cards.
Scoring in Tarneeb
To score points, a team must meet or exceed the number of Allmat they bid. If the team achieves this, they add the number of Allmat they won to their total points, while the opposing team scores nothing. If the team fails to reach their bid, the points they bid are deducted from their total, and the opposing team adds the Allmat they won to their score. Special rules apply for bidding 13 Allmat (WIG13): if a team bids and wins 13 Allmat, they earn 26 points; if they bid 13 and fail, 16 points are deducted from their total. If both teams achieve 13 Allmat without bidding it, each team receives 16 points. The game concludes when one team reaches a total score of 41 or more, declaring them the winners.
