Paramount Pictures has recently announced significant shifts in its movie release schedule, impacting two highly anticipated Nickelodeon films: The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2. Both movies will now premiere months later than originally planned.
According to Variety, The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender has been postponed from its initial release date of January 30, 2026, to October 9, 2026. This marks a delay of nearly nine months and is the second time the film's release has been pushed back, having originally been set for October 10, 2025. No specific reason for the delay was provided, but it's confirmed that voice actors Steven Yeun, Dave Bautista, and Eric Nam are still attached to the project. The film, which received its official title at last month's CinemaCon, will focus on the original Avatar protagonist, Aang, and is the first of three planned movies set in this universe. The sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, announced shortly before the first film's premiere in 2023, has also been delayed. Originally slated for October 9, 2026, it will now hit theaters on September 17, 2027, adding nearly a year to fans' wait to see how the story of Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo continues, especially following the tantalizing mid-credits scene from the first movie. While plot and cast details remain under wraps, the Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series offers a way to bridge the gap until the sequel's release.
