The Announcement
The reveal coincided with the launch of the game's official X (formerly Twitter) account, which will serve as the primary hub for updates leading up to its release. While details remain scarce, Avex Pictures confirmed that the game will be a casual mobile title designed for both Android and iOS devices. For now, the game is exclusively launching in Japan, with no official word on a potential global rollout.
A Journey Through the Abyss
Made in Abyss originally began as a manga series in 2012, created by Akihito Tsukushi and serialized on Web Comic Gamma. Set in a fictional world dominated by the mysterious Abyss—a massive vertical cave teeming with ancient relics, cryptic creatures, and untold secrets—the story follows Riko, a young girl determined to follow in the footsteps of her missing mother, Lyza, a legendary explorer of the Abyss.
As Riko ventures deeper into the unknown, she encounters Reg, a mysterious half-human, half-robot boy with no recollection of his past. Together, they embark on a perilous journey into the heart of the Abyss, where every step could be their last.
Expanding the Universe
The franchise has seen multiple adaptations over the years. In 2017, the manga was adapted into an acclaimed anime series, while a sequel film, Dawn of the Deep Soul, premiered in Japan in 2020. Additionally, in 2022, Chime Corporation released a 3D action RPG titled Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness for consoles and PC.
