Alicia Silverstone Returns for Clueless Sequel Series

Author : Sarah May 22,2025

As if they could resist bringing back Alicia Silverstone in her iconic yellow and plaid. The beloved actress is reportedly set to reprise her role as Cher Horowitz in a new Clueless sequel series, slated for Peacock.

According to Variety, the series is in development, but plot details are currently under wraps. What we do know is that Silverstone will be back, the show will continue the story from the original 1995 film, and it has a talented creative team behind it. It's also worth noting that this project is distinct from the Clueless spin-off Peacock had planned back in 2020.

The writing team includes Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, renowned for their work on the original Gossip Girl series and its reboot, alongside Jordan Weiss. Together, they will also executive produce the series, joined by Amy Heckerling, the original writer-director of Clueless, and Robert Lawrence, the film’s original producer. CBS Studios and Universal Television are on board to produce.

This isn't the first time Clueless has transitioned to the small screen. Following the film's success, a TV version aired on ABC and UPN from 1996 to 1999, with Rachel Blanchard stepping into the role of Cher instead of Silverstone.

Silverstone's recent return to her Clueless character in a 2023 Super Bowl commercial for Rakuten shows her eagerness to dive back into Cher's world. We can't say we're surprised—she's clearly ready to step back into those fabulous shoes.
