Alien: Earth Sets Release Date, Episode Count, New Plot Reveals

Author : Lily Oct 10,2025

Alien: Earth drops its premiere episodes on August 12, streaming on Hulu at 8pm ET and airing simultaneously on FX and Disney+ worldwide at 8pm PT/ET. The eight-episode season continues with weekly releases every Tuesday.

Set in 2120 (two decades post-Prometheus and just before the original Alien's Nostromo disaster), Noah Hawley's Alien: Earth follows the wreckage of the USCSS Maginot research vessel. Survivor Wendy (Sydney Chandler) and a squad of tactical soldiers uncover earth-shattering secrets that confront them with humanity's ultimate nightmare.

For franchise context, Alien: Romulus occupies the chronological gap between Alien and Aliens.

The series presents a corporate-ruled Earth dominated by five mega-corporations: the notorious Weyland-Yutani alongside Prodigy, Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold. This cyberpunk dystopia features human-cyborg integration and synthetic beings - until Prodigy's rogue CEO develops hybrid consciousness implants. Wendy represents the first successful human-robot hybrid prototype, continuing the franchise's exploration of immortality.

A chilling development emerges when Weyland-Yutani's vessel collides with Prodigy City, exposing Wendy and fellow hybrids to "entities beyond worst-case scenarios." This suggests either diversified Xenomorph variants or entirely new biomechanical horrors. Reports indicate five distinct creature designs.

Official synopsis:

In 2120, five corporations govern Earth: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold. This Corporate Era blends humans with cyborgs and synthetics - until Prodigy's visionary CEO cracks human consciousness transfer. The first hybrid, "Wendy," represents a quantum leap in immortality research. When Weyland-Yutani's ship plows into Prodigy City, Wendy's team encounters lifeforms that redefine terror.

Showrunner Noah Hawley addressed his creative approach in 2023, explaining his departure from Prometheus' canon in favor of the original films' retro-futuristic aesthetic. Though consulting with Ridley Scott, Hawley ultimately discarded the bioweapon mythology to honor the classic Alien lore.

The franchise continues expanding with Alien: Romulus 2 development underway and the anticipated Predator: Badlands suggesting another inter-franchise collision.
