Delta Force, previously known as Delta Force: Hawk Ops, is now accepting pre-registrations for its mobile release on iOS and Android. Launching in late January 2025, this Tencent-developed title marks a significant entry into the modern military shooter market. The game blends diverse missions and game modes with a tactical gameplay style.
For those unfamiliar, the Delta Force franchise is a veteran of the first-person shooter genre, predating even Call of Duty. Inspired by the real-life US military unit, it's renowned for its realistic weaponry and gadgets.
Tencent's Level Infinite has revitalized the Delta Force series with impressive features. "Warfare" mode delivers large-scale battles reminiscent of Battlefield, while "Operations" focuses on extraction-style gameplay. A single-player campaign, heavily influenced by the film "Black Hawk Down," and set during the Battle of Mogadishu, is also planned for 2025.
Addressing Cheating Concerns
Despite high anticipation, Delta Force has faced controversy regarding its approach to combating cheaters. Tencent's anti-cheat measures, while implemented by their dedicated G.T.I. Security team, have drawn criticism for their perceived overreach. Restrictions on certain software and hardware for the PC version have been met with negative feedback.
Although cheating might be less prevalent on mobile platforms, the initial PC controversy could still impact player interest. However, the mobile version offers a potential opportunity to meet expectations, given the reduced likelihood of cheating.
