If you were with us in April of last year, you may remember us mentioning a quirky little strategy RPG called Isekai Dispatcher. Now, the developers behind that intriguing, retro take on the 'trapped-in-another-world' genre have shifted gears to bring us something more relaxed and adorable: Ash & Snow, a kitten-themed match-three game, set to launch on mobile on May 15th.
As you might expect from a match-three game, Ash & Snow involves matching colored blocks to clear them and boost your score. You'll also encounter power-ups that help you clear the board faster and rack up even more points. But what truly sets this game apart are its two charming mascots, Ash & Snow. These delightful kittens will be your constant companions as you tackle puzzles, appearing on the main screen or keeping an eye on you from the top left corner.
Given the pedigree of the developers, there's no doubt that Ash & Snow will be a well-crafted game. However, in a market saturated with match-three puzzlers that often try to reinvent the wheel, the presence of two kittens might seem quaint. Yet, it's undeniable that featuring cats (and more recently, capybaras) as characters tends to boost game sales, particularly in the mobile space.
With only a month until Ash & Snow's release, and with details still somewhat scarce, we'll be keeping a close watch for any new information leading up to the launch.
