Assassin's Creed Shadows: A March 2025 Release
Ubisoft has announced another delay for Assassin's Creed Shadows, pushing the release date to March 20, 2025. Initially slated for a February 14th release, this five-week postponement aims to further refine and polish the game based on player feedback.
The game's journey to release has been marked by delays. The first, announced in September 2024, shifted the launch from November 15th to February 14th, 2025. While the initial delay cited the need to improve the overall game, this latest postponement directly addresses player feedback.
Marc-Alexis Coté, the game's vice president executive producer, emphasized Ubisoft's commitment to delivering a high-quality experience through ongoing player-developer communication. Both delays, according to Coté, provide crucial time for refinement and polishing.
Release Date: March 20, 2025
Ubisoft previously offered pre-order refunds and free expansion access to mitigate the impact of the September delay. While no similar compensation has been announced for this latest shift, the shorter delay may lessen player frustration.
This additional delay might also be linked to Ubisoft's internal investigation into its development practices, launched to enhance player-centric game development. The company experienced record losses in its 2023 fiscal year, prompting this internal review and a focus on incorporating player feedback more effectively. Delaying Assassin's Creed Shadows to integrate fan input could be a direct result of this initiative.
