Get ready, fans of the Avatar universe! Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios have just unveiled their latest venture: "Avatar: Seven Havens." This new series is a thrilling addition to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the beloved "Avatar: The Last Airbender." Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the masterminds behind the original series, are steering the ship for this exciting new chapter.
"Avatar: Seven Havens" will span 26 episodes of 2D animation, diving into the journey of a young Earthbender who steps into the role of the Avatar after Korra. According to a press release from Nickelodeon, the series unfolds in a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm. The new Avatar finds herself in a perilous situation, branded not as a savior but as humanity's destroyer. Pursued by both human and spirit enemies, she, along with her long-lost twin, embarks on a quest to unravel their mysterious origins and rescue the Seven Havens—civilization's last bastions—from collapse.
Konietzko and DiMartino shared their excitement, stating, "When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later. This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters." The series will be split into two seasons, each containing 13 episodes, forming Book 1 and Book 2. Joining DiMartino and Konietzko in this creative endeavor are executive producers Ethan Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi. While the cast remains under wraps for now, anticipation is already building.
"Avatar: Seven Havens" marks the first mainline TV series from Avatar Studios, who are also busy crafting a full-length animated movie centered around an adult Aang. This film is slated for a theatrical release on January 30, 2026, promising fans a new adventure with the beloved character.
As part of the 20th anniversary festivities, Avatar Studios is rolling out an array of new books, comics, concerts, toys, and even a game on Roblox, ensuring fans have plenty to look forward to as they celebrate this monumental milestone in the Avatar saga.
