Baldur's Gate 3's hidden depths continue to unfold. Larian Studios' RPG is steadily revealing its many secrets, thanks in no small part to dedicated dataminers.
Datamined discoveries have included a previously unearthed ending. This dark conclusion, rediscovered during testing of the game's eighth major patch, allows the player character to forcibly remove and destroy the illithid parasite without harm. A subsequent choice presents itself: depart with companions, or leave them behind.
Many believe this ending will be fully integrated with the release of patch eight.
Recent layoffs at BioWare, the studio behind Dragon Age: The Veilguard, have fueled industry conversations. In response, Michael Daus, Larian Studios' publishing director, took to social media to emphasize the importance of valuing employees. He argued that leadership, not rank-and-file workers, should bear the brunt of financial difficulties, stating that widespread layoffs between or after projects are unnecessary. He stressed the critical value of retaining institutional knowledge for future endeavors.
