Rebel Wolves, a studio comprised of former CD Projekt Red developers, is aiming for The Witcher 3's quality benchmark with their debut title, The Blood of Dawnwalker, a vampire RPG. Despite being a smaller-scale project, the team prioritizes AAA-level quality.
A Focused Narrative Experience: 30-40 Hours
Creative director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz clarified in an interview with GamesRadar that while the game's scope is smaller than a typical AAA title, the ambition for quality remains high. They aim for a 30-40 hour main campaign, emphasizing quality over sheer playtime. Tomaszkiewicz argued that playtime isn't the sole determinant of AAA status, citing shorter AAA titles as examples.
The team's experience working on The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 at CD Projekt Red ensures a high level of polish. The studio's formation allowed for greater creative freedom than working within a larger, established company.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is a narrative-driven, open-world dark fantasy RPG set in Vale Sangora. Players control Coen, a peasant granted vampiric abilities, who embarks on a quest to save his sister. The game's dark fantasy setting promises a challenging and engaging experience.
Currently slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, a gameplay reveal is expected in Summer 2025. A specific release date is yet to be announced.
