Borderlands 4 Gets Own PlayStation State of Play
PlayStation has officially announced that Borderlands 4 will have a dedicated State of Play today. Announced via a Twitter (X) post on April 29, the event is scheduled for April 30 at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET / 10 PM BST / 11 PM CEST. During this highly anticipated live stream, developers from Gearbox Software will dive deep into the world of the upcoming FPS sequel to the Borderlands series. According to a post on the PlayStation.blog dated April 29, the State of Play will feature over 20 minutes of "developer-guided gameplay," showcasing missions, an array of killer weapons, thrilling Action Skills, and both new and returning characters.
Launch Date Moved to September 12
In a surprising twist following the State of Play announcement, Gearbox Entertainment CEO Randy Pitchford revealed in a Twitter (X) video on April 29 that Borderlands 4's launch date has been moved up to September 12. Although he quickly deleted the video, he followed up with a post explaining that he had shared the news prematurely and promised to repost soon.
Pitchford emphasized in his video that the development process has been exceptionally smooth, describing it as "everything’s going kinda the best scenario." This positive progress allowed them to move the launch date forward. Initially set for September 23, as announced during PlayStation's February State of Play, Borderlands 4's official Twitter (X) account confirmed the new earlier release date.
The official post reads, "After careful consideration–along with A LOT of meetings, playtestings, and incredible development work–we have made the monumental decision to MOVE UP THE LAUNCH DATE OF BORDERLANDS 4 to SEPTEMBER 12."
