Call of Duty: Warzone Update Sparks Major Issues

The latest update for *Call of Duty: Warzone* has stirred up some new challenges within the battle royale community. Since its launch in 2020, *Warzone* has captivated players worldwide, offering a standalone Call of Duty battle royale experience. Its popularity soared during the global lockdown, and despite the ups and downs, it continues to boast a dedicated fanbase thanks to regular updates.

*Warzone* updates have always been a mixed bag, with some being eagerly anticipated and others sparking debate. The removal of the iconic Verdansk map divided the community, as did the integration of *Black Ops 6* movement mechanics. However, fans have generally welcomed additions like the Resurgence game mode and the introduction of various new maps over time.

The most recent update aimed to address several lingering issues, including fixing the frustrating loading screen crashes and other minor bugs. However, according to reports from CharlieIntel on Twitter, this update has inadvertently introduced new problems. Players are now facing matchmaking difficulties, and the *Warzone* Ranked Play mode is experiencing severe issues, such as players appearing under the map and encountering problems with Buy Stations.

*Warzone* Ranked Play, the competitive facet of the battle royale, is critically affected by these issues. At the time of writing, there has been no official acknowledgment from Call of Duty's social media channels, but it's likely that Activision is already working on a solution. Given the frequency of updates, players can expect a fix to be deployed soon.

Currently, *Call of Duty*'s player count on Steam has seen a decline due to fierce competition in the online multiplayer arena, persistent issues with cheaters, and controversial decisions like the premium Squid Game Battle Pass. While the situation might look bleak, resolving these recent problems and potentially bringing back Verdansk could reignite interest and lead to a resurgence for the beloved battle royale.
