In a celebration of reaching an impressive 10 million players, the Resident Evil 4 development team released a short video on social media on April 25, showcasing Ada Wong conversing with one of gaming's most iconic villains. The scene then shifts to Leon, surrounded by an infected horde wearing party hats, casually making their way towards a church.
The video transitions to a rock song, featuring Dr. Salvador playing his chainsaw as if it were a guitar. As the camera pulls back, we see Leon fist-pumping in front of a rustic sign that reads "Thank you for playing." You can watch the full video below:

However, turn that sign on its side, and the boards form the Roman numeral "IX," representing the number 9. While this might seem coincidental, horror game leaker Dusk Golem points out that there's no lower plank on the sign in earlier parts of the video, suggesting it was intentionally added. One surprised viewer responded, "I know what you did here," accompanied by a wide-eyed emoji.
Capcom has officially announced that the next mainline entry in the Resident Evil series, Resident Evil 9, will be directed by Koshi Nakanishi, who also directed Resident Evil 7. Nakanishi mentioned, "It was really difficult to figure out what to do after [Resident Evil 7]. But I found it, and to be honest, it feels substantial. I can't share any details just yet, but I hope you're excited for the day I can." Rumors suggest, though not confirmed, that the game will be set on an island inspired by Singapore.
