Nine Inch Nails Duo Wins Golden Globe, Set to Score Naughty Dog's Intergalactic
Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, the acclaimed composers behind the score for Naughty Dog's upcoming title Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, have added another accolade to their impressive resume: a Golden Globe for Best Original Score. Their award-winning composition is for Luca Guadagnino's film Challengers.
The recent Intergalactic trailer showcased a preview of Reznor and Ross's work, alongside licensed music featured in the game. Known for their decades-long collaboration with Nine Inch Nails and their critically acclaimed scores for films directed by David Fincher and Pete Docter, the duo previously won an Academy Award for The Social Network and Soul, along with multiple Grammys, an Emmy, and a BAFTA. Reznor also notably created the soundtrack for 1996's Quake and the main title track for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.
Accepting the Golden Globe for Challengers, a romantic sports drama, Ross described the score as "never a safe choice, but always the right one." The dynamic electronic soundtrack reflects the film's edgy athleticism and sensuality. Given their current creative peak, Intergalactic's soundtrack is highly anticipated to be a standout.
Golden Globe Victory Fuels Anticipation for Intergalactic
While their origins in Nine Inch Nails' industrial rock might seem unexpected for game and film scoring, Reznor and Ross have consistently demonstrated remarkable versatility. Their work ranges from the haunting soundscapes of The Social Network to the ethereal beauty of Soul. With hints suggesting a horror element in Intergalactic, their musical choices appear particularly fitting.
The Golden Globe win further amplifies excitement for Intergalactic, potentially a significant departure for Naughty Dog. Given their spotless track record, fans can expect a truly exceptional soundscape, regardless of the final game's content.
