Classic Weapon Returns in Destiny 2

Destiny 2 enthusiasts are buzzing with speculation that the iconic hand cannon, The Palindrome, is set to make a comeback with the launch of Episode: Heresy in February. This anticipation stems from a cryptic tweet shared by the Destiny 2 team's official Twitter account. As Destiny 2 faces one of its lowest points in player engagement, fans are hopeful that Bungie is gearing up for a strong finish with Episode: Heresy, aiming to rejuvenate the game ahead of the next major content update, Codename: Frontiers, later this year.

With the conclusion of Episode: Revenant on the horizon, Bungie has already begun teasing the upcoming Episode: Heresy. Despite the mixed reception to Episode: Revenant, with its narrative and gameplay content falling short of expectations and leaving the community somewhat disengaged, the episode did bring back some beloved weapons, including the Icebreaker exotic sniper rifle from the original Destiny.

It appears Bungie is set to continue this trend by reintroducing more classic weapons in Episode: Heresy, scheduled for release on February 4. A mysterious tweet from the Destiny 2 team, which turned out to be a palindrome, has led fans to believe that The Palindrome, a legendary hand cannon featured in the series since the first Destiny, will return alongside the new episode. Although not officially confirmed, the excitement is palpable.

The Return of The Palindrome Should Be a More Triumphant One This Time

The Palindrome has previously been available in Destiny 2, but it was removed from rotation following the 2022 release of The Witch Queen expansion. Historically celebrated as a formidable weapon in PvP, its recent iterations have disappointed fans due to less desirable perk selections. As Episode: Heresy approaches, fans are eager for The Palindrome to return with a more competitive set of perks that align with the current meta.

While details about Episode: Heresy remain scarce, it's known to focus on the Hive and the Dreadnought, elements that resonate deeply with long-time fans from the original Destiny. As the release date nears, it's expected that Bungie will continue to tease the return of other fan-favorite weapons, building anticipation and hopefully reigniting player interest in Destiny 2.
