Cookie Run: Kingdom has just unveiled its latest update, version 5.6, dubbed 'Dark Resolution’s Glorious Return'. This update brings a mix of exciting new content and some controversial changes that have stirred the community. Let's dive into what's new and what's causing a stir.
Cookie Run: Kingdom Version 5.6 Update – The Good
The version 5.6 update introduces a wealth of new content, including new Cookies, episodes, limited-time events, toppings, treasures, and more. Let's start with the highlights:
First off, we have the Ancient+ Cookie, Dragon Lord Dark Cacao Cookie. This Charge type Cookie takes the front line and wields the Awakened King skill, using his Chocoblade to inflict significant damage and apply a CRIT Resist debuff on enemies. He also collaborates with the Twin Dragons for a powerful strike, making him a formidable addition to your team.
To increase your chances of obtaining Dragon Lord Dark Cacao Cookie, there's a special gacha called the Nether-Gacha: Light of True Resolution. With every 250 pulls, you're guaranteed to get him. Even if you don't reach that number, you'll still receive valuable rewards like Light of True Resolution items or Dragon Lord Dark Cacao Cookie's Soulstones.
Another new addition is the Epic Cookie, Peach Blossom Cookie. This Support type Cookie stays in the rear and uses the Heavenly Fruit skill to heal the team. Additionally, it drops Peach Bao fruits that enhance DMG Resist and Debuff Resist for allies, making it a great asset for any team.
The update also includes a new episode in World Exploration, continuing Dark Cacao Cookie's saga in 'Dark Resolution’s Glorious Return.' Players can expect battle stages with the Yin and Yang effect, adding a new layer of strategy to the game.
The Bad… And The Ugly
However, not everything about the update is being celebrated. The introduction of a new rarity, Ancient+, has raised eyebrows. With a maximum promotion level of 6-star for these rare cookies, progressing through ★2/★4/★6 offers enhanced designs and new character lines. But this change has been met with criticism.
The issue is that Cookie Run: Kingdom already has ten rarities, and the addition of an 11th with Ancient+ has not sat well with the community. Players are frustrated that instead of enhancing existing characters, the developers are introducing new, higher rarity cookies, which feels like a cash grab.
The backlash was significant, especially from the Korean Cookie Run community and whale guilds, who threatened to boycott the game if the developers didn't reconsider these changes. In response, the developers have decided to postpone the update, originally set for June 20th, to reevaluate the new rarity system. You can follow the latest developments through their official tweet.
