If you follow Rockstar Games on X (the Everything App formerly known as Twitter), you might have been taken aback by their recent post about the film Marching Powder and its star, Danny Dyer. The tweet read:

You might be wondering why Rockstar, with its massive following of 21 million, would promote a small British film. And who exactly is Danny Dyer? Let's dive in and clarify.

Who is Danny Dyer?

Daniel John Dyer, known as Danny Dyer, is an actor hailing from East London. In the UK, he's a household name, celebrated as an "absolute legend." For those unfamiliar with British slang, the term "legend" refers to someone who is the epitome of social excellence—funny, reckless, original, and sensitive in the right measures, as per the Urban Dictionary.

Dyer's career began in 1993, and he's known for portraying tough, working-class characters. His public persona is equally bold; he's outspoken on societal and governmental issues and often adopts a "tough uncle" approach to life. For instance, in 2010, he advised a Zoo magazine reader recovering from a breakup to go "on a rampage [drinking session] with the boys."

Dyer's social media presence is equally entertaining, as seen in this memorable post:

Roll on bonfire night..........it's gonna get strapped to a great big massive fuck off Rocket so it can join the other Furbys in the sky...

How is Danny Dyer Connected to Rockstar?

If you're a fan of the Grand Theft Auto series, you've likely heard Danny Dyer's voice. He played Kent Paul in GTA: Vice City, managing the Scottish rock band Love Fist, and reprised the role in GTA: San Andreas, where he represented the Gurning Chimps and later produced for rapper Madd Dogg.

Dyer's connection to Rockstar goes beyond voice acting. In 2004, he starred in The Football Factory, a British film directed by Nick Love and produced by Rockstar Games. This collaboration marks a unique intersection between the gaming and film industries.

Marching Powder, the film mentioned in Rockstar's tweet, reunites Dyer with Nick Love. While not a sequel to The Football Factory, it shares themes of football hooliganism, heavy drinking, drug use, and a distinctly British gritty humor. Despite the promotion, Rockstar has no involvement in Marching Powder; they are simply supporting it due to their past collaboration with Dyer and Love.

Is Vice City's Kent Paul Returning for GTA 6?

The short answer is: we don't know. And Rockstar's social media post about Marching Powder has no bearing on GTA 6. However, let's indulge in some speculation. Could Kent Paul make an appearance in Grand Theft Auto 6?

It's crucial to understand that the GTA series is divided into two distinct eras: the 3D era (games on PS2 and PSP) and the HD era (from GTA 4 onwards). These are separate universes, with no direct storyline continuity between them. This is why GTA 5's Los Santos differs from San Andreas' version, and why characters from the PS2-era games aren't directly mentioned in GTA 4 and 5.

However, there are some crossovers. Grove Street from San Andreas appears in GTA 5, and several gangs from the 3D universe, like the Ballas, are present in the HD universe. Lazlo, the infamous character, has appeared across both eras. Notably, Kent Paul has his name on the Vinewood Walk of Fame in GTA 5.

So, could Kent Paul return in GTA 6? It's certainly within the realm of possibility, but a tweet about Marching Powder doesn't provide any concrete evidence. Fans will have to wait and see what Rockstar has in store.
