The release of Days Gone Remastered is approaching quickly, and Sony's Bend Studio has recently shared insights into the accessibility enhancements that will be part of this updated version. A significant feature highlighted in a new PlayStation Blog post by Bend Studio's Creative & Product Lead, Kevin McAllister, is the ability to adjust Game Speed. This feature allows players to slow down the gameplay from 100% to as low as 75%, 50%, or 25%, making it easier for those who find high-pressure situations challenging.
"Game Speed is ideal for players who might feel overwhelmed in certain situations or have difficulty with various inputs in high pressure moments, specifically fighting off hordes of Freakers," McAllister explained. "Hordes are a pillar in Days Gone gameplay and with our new Horde Assault mode arriving in the remaster, we wanted to make this unique combat experience more accessible to our players."Beyond Game Speed, Days Gone Remastered will also introduce other accessibility options such as customizable subtitle colors, a High Contrast Mode that can be tailored to individual preferences, UI Narration, and Collectible Audio Cues. Additionally, the auto-complete QTE feature, previously exclusive to the Easy difficulty, will now be available across all difficulty levels, from Easy to Survival II.
Bend Studio has also confirmed that most of these new accessibility features will be extended to the PC version of Days Gone. However, some features like feedback and control customization will require a compatible controller to function fully.
Days Gone Remastered was officially announced in February, promising not only enhanced accessibility but also additional features like an improved photo mode, permadeath and speedrun options. This remastered edition of the 2019 post-apocalyptic, zombie-themed action-adventure game centered around a biker protagonist is set to launch on April 25, 2025. Owners of the PS4 version will have the opportunity to upgrade to the PS5 remastered version for just $10.
