Get Your Pet
First things first: as soon as you load up Diablo 4 Season 7, head to the nearest town with a Wardrobe and interact with it to get your pet. Pets don't participate in battles, but they're incredibly useful for automatically collecting your gold and materials. This saves you a significant amount of time, allowing you to focus more on combat and loot collection.
Grab Your Mercenaries
If you own the Vessel of Hatred expansion, visit the Den to recruit a Mercenary. Solo players can have up to two Mercenaries, which makes leveling and combat much smoother. Building Rapport with them can also unlock additional rewards.
Follow the Seasonal Questline and Level Up
Begin on Normal difficulty and follow the new seasonal questline in Diablo 4 Season 7, marked by green leaf icons on your map. This questline introduces you to the Season's new mechanics, including Headhunt zones and Grim Favors for the Tree of Whispers, as well as the new Witch powers. Though the questline is relatively short, it includes puzzles and primarily involves farming Favors in Headhunt zones.
This is also the most efficient way to reach level 60. Focus on defeating Headhunt zone bosses, collecting Favors, and enhancing your Witch powers.
Unlock Your Class Power
A handy quality-of-life feature is that you no longer need to complete class-specific priority quests if you've already done so with a previous character. However, you must first log in with that character on the Eternal realm. For example, if you're starting a Rogue in Season 7, log in with a previously created Rogue who has completed these quests. Once you log in with your new Season 7 Rogue, your class power will unlock automatically upon reaching the required level.
Headhunt Zones
While navigating Headhunt zones, make sure to complete the Whispers. There are always four active Headhunt zones, and you should target the smaller, more compact ones for higher enemy density, which allows for faster mob farming and Whisper completion.
Prioritize these two Whisper quests:
- Fugitive: Requires recovering a head or destroying a husk, activated by defeating Elites and interacting with roots.
- Shepherd: An easy task of escorting animals across the map.
When you accumulate 10 Grim Favors, exchange them at the Tree of Whispers for a cache. Remember, a Raven of the Tree appears in each Headhunt zone, allowing you to turn in your Favors without returning to the Tree of Whispers.
Witchcraft Powers
At the Tree of Whispers, interact with the Altars of Witchcraft to purchase and upgrade your Witchcraft powers using Restless Rot, which you obtain by defeating the new Rot enemies. While the powers are affordable to buy, upgrades are costly. Focus on purchasing those that provide straightforward damage boosts for passive damage enhancement.
Some Witch powers can only be obtained from Forgotten Altars, which you may encounter in regular dungeons, Nightmare Dungeons, Pits, and Rootholds once you reach Torment 1 difficulty. Use a Draught of Whispers to increase your chances of finding these altars.
Rootholds
Rootholds are a new dungeon type introduced in Diablo 4 Season 7, accessible by using a Whispering Wood, obtained through Whispers and Silent Chests. Similar to a rogue-lite mode like Infernal Hordes, Rootholds allow you to activate negative modifiers that enhance loot quality. As you progress, open Exposed Roots for loot, with the modifiers affecting both the quantity and quality of these roots.
Save your Roothold keys for Torment 1, as they are the best source of Ancestral loot this Season.
Occult Gems
Later in the game, you can craft Occult Gems by speaking with Gelena at the Tree of Whispers. These gems, which you can slot into your jewelry, outperform regular gems. Crafting them requires a lot of Restless Rot and Heads, which drop from Roothold bosses and Fugitives in Headhunt zones. The Draught of Whispers can boost your chances of obtaining Heads from bosses.
Pits, Infernal Hordes, and Nightmare Dungeons
Don't forget to include Pits and Nightmare Dungeons in your routine. You'll earn Glyphs from Nightmare Dungeons and level them up in Pits. Additionally, farm Infernal Hordes for masterworking materials to enhance your Uniques.
