While *Split Fiction* is a fairly straightforward and linear co-op adventure, it offers plenty of opportunities to explore beyond the main storyline through what the game refers to as Side Stories. These are often optional, but they contain some of the most memorable moments in the game, such as turning into pigs or competing in a deadly game show. If you're aiming to unlock the achievement tied to completing all Side Stories, here's a detailed guide on how to find them all.
How to Find All Side Stories in Split Fiction
Within Chapters 2 through 5, you can find a total of 12 different Side Stories, with three in each chapter. Here's how to locate each one:
- Legend of the Sandfish – This first Side Story is encountered naturally in Chapter 2 after completing the Rush Hour section. It's impossible to miss.
- Farmlife – Found in Chapter 2 within the Streets of Neon section. Look for it after hopping over a small barrier and before reaching the elevators on the left.
- Mountain Hike – The last Side Story in Chapter 2 is in the Big City Life section. Once you reach the Port-A-Pottys, have Mio hop into one, then use Zoe to throw her to a ledge opposite them where there's a small ladder. Have Mio drop the ladder to access it.
- Train Heist – The first Side Story in Chapter 3 is located in the Lord Evergreen section. While navigating the water with a plank of wood, you'll find it on a ledge that Mio and Zoe will need to wall run to reach.
- Gameshow – In Chapter 3's Walking Sticks of Doom section, this Side Story is on a platform after the side-scrolling part, requiring some minor platforming to reach.
- Collapsing Star – The final Side Story in Chapter 3 can be found in the Halls of Ice section along the main path, making it impossible to miss.
- Kites – The first Side Story in Chapter 4 is in the Toxic Tumblers section, located at the end of the long tube.
- Moon Market – In Chapter 4's Test Chamber section, after opening the door post-crane sequence, look for it on a ledge to the left, accessible after some platforming.
- Notebook – The last Side Story in Chapter 4 is found in the Soaring Desperados section. Once you get the jetpack, avoid the giant wheel as you hover over to the left side of the room where it's located.
- Slopes of War – The first Side Story in Chapter 5 is in the Water Temple section. After hatching your dragons, solve the lever puzzle on the left after crossing the golden balls to unlock it.
- Space Escape – Located in Chapter 5's Craft Temple section, this Side Story requires you to launch Mio to a ledge using her glide and Zoe's roll after defeating the dragon. Have Mio drop a column for Zoe to climb.
- Birthday Cake – The final Side Story in *Split Fiction* is found in Chapter 5's Treasure Temple section. Complete the soul puzzle and it will be on your left.
Once you've completed all 12 Side Stories, you will automatically unlock the Bookworms achievement in *Split Fiction*.
