After a decade in development, BioWare will unveil the release date for *Dragon Age: The Veilguard* today, August 15th, at 9:00 A.M. PDT (12:00 P.M. EDT) with a special trailer."We're thrilled to share this moment with our fans," BioWare announced on Twitter (X). They've also outlined a roadmap of upcoming reveals to keep the excitement building: "In the coming weeks, we'll showcase high-level warrior combat gameplay, a dedicated Companions Week, and more," they revealed. A Decade-Long Development
The journey to bring Dragon Age: The Veilguard to life has been an epic one, spanning nearly a decade. Development began in 2015, following Dragon Age: Inquisition. However, BioWare's focus shifted to Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem, causing delays and impacting the project—initially codenamed "Joplin." Further complicating matters, the initial design didn't align with the company's live-service strategy, leading to a complete development halt.
In 2018, The Veilguard was revived under the codename "Morrison." After years of further development and several title changes (including the previously announced Dragon Age: Dreadwolf), the game is finally nearing release.
Despite the challenges, the wait is nearly over. Dragon Age: The Veilguard is launching on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S this fall. Get ready, because your journey to Thedas is about to begin!
