A free demo for Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth's spin-off, Like a Dragon: Pirate of the Caribbean (working title), is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
RGG Studio made the announcement via X/Twitter, stating the demo's release time as 7am Pacific / 10am Eastern / 3pm UK. The full game launches February 21st, also on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, though these platforms will not receive the demo.
While RGG Studio hasn't confirmed demo save transfer to the full game, the demo's content suggests otherwise. It allows players to bypass the early game, accessing freeroam areas and battles not initially available in the main story.
The demo offers access to portions of Honolulu and Madlantis, letting players experiment with the Mad Dog and Sea Dog fighting styles, battle powerful bounty enemies, engage in four ship and deck battles within the Pirates' Coliseum, utilize new customization options, and enjoy karaoke featuring three songs.
Like a Dragon: Pirate of the Caribbean follows Goro Majima's amnesiac pirate adventure in Hawaii, serving as a sequel to Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, the eighth mainline entry (or ninth including Yakuza 0) in the Yakuza/ Like a Dragon series. An October Xbox Partner Showcase trailer showcased ship combat reminiscent of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and the return of Taiga Saejima, hinting at stronger connections to the main series.
Expected to be significantly longer than Like a Dragon: Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, the game's story is estimated to take 15-18 hours to complete. A Kiryu Kazuma costume for Majima is available as an incentive for email signup or Sega rewards program participation.
