Long-time fans of the iconic Dragon Quest series are in for a treat, but only if they're in Japan. The latest installment, Dragon Quest X, which brings a unique MMORPG twist to the franchise, is making its way to mobile devices. Japanese fans can now enjoy the offline version of this game on iOS and Android, set to release tomorrow. This version, known as Dragon Quest X Offline, transforms the multiplayer experience into a solo adventure, available for a premium purchase.
According to Gematsu, this move brings back memories of when Ubitu was set to bring Dragon Quest X to mobile back in 2013. Dragon Quest X stands out from its predecessors with its real-time combat and MMORPG elements, a departure from the series' traditional gameplay. The offline version, initially released in 2022 for consoles and PC, follows the original game's debut in 2012.
Sadly, fans outside of Japan shouldn't get their hopes up just yet for a global release. The original Dragon Quest X was exclusive to Japan, and there's currently no news on the offline version being available internationally on mobile. It's a disappointing update for fans like myself who have spent countless hours in games like Sentinels of the Starry Sky and are eager to explore different iterations of the series on mobile.
