Players Uncover Stunlock Exploit in PvP Matches
During the game’s Global LAN Party livestream on May 10, players stumbled upon a critical exploit that disrupts fair PvP combat. By repeatedly using quick knife attacks against an enemy with depleted stamina, attackers can keep their targets in a constant state of stagger—rendering them completely helpless. The victim is unable to defend, use abilities, or escape, effectively turning the fight into a one-sided stunlock.
This issue was widely observed during high-profile streams featuring popular content creators like Tyler1 and Shroud, drawing immediate attention from both the community and the development team. The exploit undermines core combat mechanics and has the potential to severely impact competitive balance if left unaddressed.
Funcom Confirms Fix Ahead of Launch
Funcom developers, including Dune: Awakening World Director Jeff Gagné and Lead Producer Ole Andreas Haley, were present during the livestream and acknowledged the exploit in real time. Responding to player feedback, Gagné assured the community, “We got this covered. It's not like ‘Oh my god, we haven't thought about it.’ It's already going away.”
