ROME: Total War enthusiasts on Android are in for a treat as Feral Interactive has released the expansive Imperium Update. This free update brings a host of gameplay enhancements, refined controls, and quality-of-life improvements to the classic strategy game that made its way to Android back in 2018. Fans of the standalone expansions, Barbarian Invasion and Alexander, can look forward to receiving the same update next week.
What Does the Imperium Update Bring to ROME: Total War?
The Imperium Update integrates some of the most acclaimed features from Feral’s newer mobile titles, such as Total War: MEDIEVAL II and EMPIRE. Players now have access to three innovative control options: Positioning Mode, Melee Mode, and Automatic Deselection, designed to enhance your command over units and improve the precision of battles.
With the new control system, you can now move your army, agents, or fleets simply by tapping and holding, eliminating the need for manually dragging paths. Positioning Mode allows for meticulous unit placement by tapping and holding, while the Group Grid feature simplifies managing unit groups with a user-friendly, collapsible selection menu. Melee Mode enables ranged units to switch to close combat seamlessly when the situation demands it.
A standout feature of the update is the Command Slowdown, which automatically reduces game speed when issuing complex orders, making it easier to manage intricate battle strategies. Additionally, keyboard and mouse support has been introduced for the first time on Android and iPad, enhancing the gaming experience.
The minimap in ROME: Total War has also been revamped to mimic the intuitive design found in MEDIEVAL II. It offers smoother zooming and navigation capabilities, along with a new reset button that allows you to quickly revert to the default view.
The Imperium Update is now available for download on the Google Play Store for all ROME: Total War Android users. Keep an eye out for the updates coming to Barbarian Invasion and Alexander next week.
