Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail's Patch 7.0 Preview Unveils Extensive Updates
With early access just around the corner, Square Enix has released preliminary patch notes for Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail's version 7.0 update, highlighting significant additions and changes to the acclaimed MMORPG. These notes detail the locations for new job quests (Viper and Pictomancer), system-wide adjustments, and much more.
Dawntrail, the fifth expansion, marks the beginning of a new saga following Endwalker. It also introduces the game's first major graphical overhaul since A Realm Reborn. Players will journey to the western continent of Tural, a land embroiled in a succession rite, joining forces with Hrothgar Wuk Lamat, a candidate for Dawnservant. Square Enix encourages players to be mindful of spoilers on social media.
While story details remain under wraps, the preliminary notes reveal upcoming additions: the Arcadion raid series and the Cenote Ja Ja Gural treasure dungeon (in future updates). A level 1 quest for a free Fantasia potion will be available in Ul'dah - Steps of Thal (X:13.4, Y:9.2). The notes also pinpoint the starting locations for the new job quests: a Worried Weaver in Ul'dah - Steps of Nald (X:9.3, Y:9.2) for Viper, and a Cheerless Hearer in Old Gridania (X:8.0, Y:10.3) for Pictomancer. Various Dawntrail role quests are also mentioned, requiring progression through the main storyline to unlock.
Key Highlights from the Preliminary Patch 7.0 Notes:
- Arcadion raid and Cenote Ja Ja Gural treasure dungeon (future updates)
- New level 1 Fantasia potion quest in Ul'dah
- Viper and Pictomancer job quest locations revealed, along with Dawntrail role quests
- New craftable items, including housing exteriors and furnishings
- Graphical enhancements: AMD FSR and Nvidia DLSS support, in-game framerate cap
To mitigate server congestion during early access, data center travel restrictions will be in place for two to four weeks. The graphical update introduces support for AMD FSR and Nvidia DLSS upscaling technologies, and allows for in-game framerate capping.
With Dawntrail's imminent release, players are poised for countless hours of new content. The speed at which players conquer the main storyline remains to be seen.
