Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered shuts its electronic doors for iOS

Author : Sophia Mar 21,2025

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered for iOS is shutting down. This follows unresolved issues with in-game purchases, leaving some players unable to access paid content.

While the developers acknowledged these problems and worked on a solution, the fix involves ending support for the iOS version. Information on how to claim refunds for purchases made after January 2024 has been released.

Originally launched on the Nintendo GameCube with a unique (though admittedly complex) multiplayer system using Game Boy Advances as controllers, Crystal Chronicles enjoyed a revival on mobile. However, recent problems with accessing paid content have led to this unfortunate outcome for iPhone and iPad users.

Crystal Chronicles has provided instructions for players to obtain refunds for inaccessible content. While disappointing, this at least ensures players aren't financially impacted by the game's closure on iOS.

It's ironically fitting that a game initially hampered by its innovative design now faces obsolescence on a new platform. This situation underscores the challenges of preserving games, particularly on mobile platforms.
