Get ready to experience the thrill of high-speed futuristic racing! Nintendo has announced the arrival of two beloved F-Zero Game Boy Advance titles to its Switch Online + Expansion Pack service.
F-Zero: GP Legend and F-Zero Climax Arrive October 11, 2024
Starting October 11th, subscribers can enjoy F-Zero: GP Legend and the previously Japan-exclusive F-Zero Climax. This marks a significant event for fans, as Climax has remained region-locked for nearly two decades.
The F-Zero series, celebrating over 30 years since its 1990 debut, is known for its groundbreaking speed and intense gameplay. Its influence on the racing genre is undeniable, inspiring titles like SEGA's Daytona USA. F-Zero pushed the boundaries of console technology in its time, establishing itself as one of the fastest racing games on SNES and beyond.
Like Mario Kart, F-Zero features intense competition, track obstacles, and thrilling battles between racers and their unique "F-Zero machines." The series' iconic protagonist, Captain Falcon, even makes appearances in Super Smash Bros.!
F-Zero: GP Legend initially launched in Japan in 2003, followed by a worldwide release in 2004. F-Zero Climax, released in Japan in 2004, finally makes its global debut as part of this update. Its arrival also marks the end of a 19-year gap since the last dedicated F-Zero title, before the release of the Switch's F-Zero 99 last year. Game designer Takaya Imamura previously cited Mario Kart's popularity as a factor in the F-Zero series' extended hiatus. This October 2024 update to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack brings thrilling Grand Prix races, engaging story modes, and challenging time trials to subscribers. Prepare for high-octane action!
