Following Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four #1 and Godzilla vs. Hulk #1, this issue throws us back to a past era. The story unfolds after 1984's Secret Wars, shortly after Peter Parker's return from Battleworld and his initial struggles with the alien symbiote. With newfound powers, Spider-Man faces his greatest challenge yet: Godzilla.
Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1 is written by Joe Kelly (soon to helm the relaunched The Amazing Spider-Man), illustrated by Nick Bradshaw (known for his work on Wolverine and the X-Men), and features cover art by Bradshaw, Lee Garbett, and Greg Land.
"The moment I heard about an '80s-set Godzilla/Spidey crossover, I practically jumped across the table to claim it," Kelly shared with IGN. "This book is pure fun, pitting two iconic characters against each other in the chaotic spirit of that era. Nick Bradshaw perfectly captures the absurdity, while giving Godzilla and Spidey (in his, shall we say, interesting black suit) the gravitas they deserve. It's a love letter with an earth-shattering roar!"
While DC recently released Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong (with a sequel on the way), this Marvel series features Toho's classic Godzilla. This announcement follows the reveal of IDW's Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1, an anthology benefiting wildfire relief.
Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1 hits shelves April 30, 2025. For more on upcoming comics, check out our previews for Marvel and DC in 2025.
