Gotham Knights: A Potential Nintendo Switch 2 Title?

Recent speculation suggests Gotham Knights may be heading to the Nintendo Switch 2. This intriguing possibility stems from a game developer's resume, as highlighted by YouTuber Doctre81 on January 5, 2025.

Gotham Knights Might be One of Nintendo Switch 2’s Third-Party Titles

The resume, belonging to a former QLOC employee (2018-2023), lists several notable titles including Mortal Kombat 11 and Tales of Vesperia. Crucially, it also includes Gotham Knights, specifying development for two unreleased platforms.

While one platform could potentially be the original Nintendo Switch (given a previous ESRB rating, since removed), performance issues on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S might have hindered a port. The listing of a second unreleased platform strongly suggests the Nintendo Switch 2 as the more likely candidate.

It's important to note that this remains unconfirmed. Neither Warner Bros. Games nor Nintendo have made official announcements. However, with the Nintendo Switch 2 being the only highly anticipated unreleased console, the possibility remains compelling.

Past Hints and the ESRB Rating

Initially released in October 2022 for PS5, Windows, and Xbox Series X, Gotham Knights received an ESRB rating for the original Nintendo Switch, fueling speculation of a release. This rating has since been removed from the ESRB website. While the original Switch port never materialized, the past rating, coupled with the recent YouTube report, adds weight to the Switch 2 theory.

Nintendo Switch 2: Backward Compatibility and Official Announcements

Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa tweeted on May 7, 2024, promising further information on the Switch's successor "within this fiscal year," ending March 2025. He also confirmed backward compatibility with original Switch software and Nintendo Switch Online. The use of physical cartridges, however, remains unconfirmed.
