GTA 5 Enhanced: Steam's Lowest-Rated GTA Title

Rockstar's enhanced version of Grand Theft Auto 5, launched in March, hasn't received the warm welcome expected on Steam. With a mixed user review rating of 54% positive out of 19,772 reviews, it significantly underperforms the original GTA 5, which boasted a "very positive" rating before being delisted at Rockstar's request. In fact, GTA 5 Enhanced currently holds the unenviable title of the lowest-rated GTA game on Steam, trailing even Grand Theft Auto III – The Definitive Edition's 66% positive rating.

This free upgrade for PC players includes features previously exclusive to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of GTA Online, such as Hao's Special Works upgrades, animal encounters, and GTA+ Membership access, along with graphical enhancements and faster loading times. Existing GTA 5 PC owners could migrate their Story Mode and Online progress.

However, account migration issues are causing widespread frustration, dominating negative reviews. Many players report encountering the error message, "The GTA Online profile associated with this Rockstar Games account is not eligible for migration at this time." This has led to significant backlash, with players expressing anger over the loss of potentially hundreds of hours of gameplay and the perceived lack of helpful support from Rockstar.

Despite these issues, GTA 5 Enhanced remains incredibly popular on Steam, peaking at 187,059 concurrent players since launch. The negative reception, however, fuels concerns about the upcoming PC release of Grand Theft Auto 6, raising anxieties about potential launch difficulties.

Currently, GTA 6 is slated for a Fall 2025 release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. A former Rockstar developer recently offered an explanation for the delayed PC release, urging patience from PC gamers.
