Leslie Benzies, the renowned former lead game designer behind Rockstar hits like Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption, is gearing up to unveil his latest project, MindsEye. This much-anticipated game recently showcased a fresh look during the PlayStation State of Play, stirring excitement among fans.
The newly released trailer for MindsEye offers a glimpse into this high-tech spy thriller, which bears striking resemblances to the iconic Grand Theft Auto series. The game features third-person gunplay, high-end cinematics, and dynamic drive-and-shoot sequences, all of which you can experience in the cinematic trailer below.
According to the official press release, MindsEye centers around protagonist Jacob Diaz, who is equipped with a neural implant known as the MindsEye. This implant, however, has disrupted his memory, leaving him with fragmented flashbacks of his military past. Driven by a quest to uncover the truth about his history, Jacob embarks on a mission that pits him against an AI-powered military force determined to thwart his efforts.
MindsEye has been in the works for several years since Benzies left Rockstar Games to establish his new studio, Build a Rocket Boy. In collaboration with Hitman developer IO Interactive, Benzies is crafting what is billed as a AAA action-adventure game. Alongside MindsEye, they are also developing the Everywhere platform, which we've previously described as a "Big budget Roblox" following a visit to their studio in 2024.
While the new trailer did not delve into details about Everywhere, MindsEye itself promises to be an exhilarating new entry in the action genre, coming from one of its most celebrated creators. Fans can look forward to its release in the summer of 2025.
