Hearthstone enthusiasts have a thrilling update to look forward to with the launch of the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set on January 21. This Mini-Set is a landmark release for the game, featuring an unprecedented 49 new cards, making it the largest Mini-Set in Hearthstone history. The excitement stems from the crossover between Hearthstone and Blizzard’s beloved StarCraft universe, bringing a fresh twist to the gameplay.
Introduced during the Warcraft Direct on November 13, 2024, the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set is an extension of The Great Dark Beyond expansion. It includes a diverse array of cards, ranging from class-specific ones to multi-class StarCraft faction cards, and even a unique factionless neutral Legendary card named Grunty. The Mini-Set's card distribution is thoughtfully crafted: each of the Hearthstone classes receives three cards, while the three StarCraft factions—Zerg, Protoss, and Terran—are each represented by five cards, one of which is a Legendary.
The Zerg cards, tailored for Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Hunter, and Warlock, revolve around summoning Zerglings and leveraging the Hydralisk to amplify damage based on the swarm's size. Meanwhile, the Protoss cards, accessible to Druid, Mage, Priest, and Rogue, focus on mana manipulation, enabling players to cast high-cost cards like the Carrier earlier in the game. The Terran cards, designed for Paladin, Shaman, and Warrior, enhance the Starship mechanic introduced in The Great Dark Beyond, offering new Starship Pieces and strategies for launching multiple Starships, including a special Mech-themed Starship.
The Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set comes at a higher price point than usual, reflecting its expanded content. Players can purchase a complete set of all the cards for $20 or 2500 gold, which is a slight increase over the typical Mini-Set price. An all-Golden version is also available for $80 or 12,000 gold. For those interested in specific factions, packs of Protoss, Terran, or Zerg cards can be bought for $10 or 1200 gold.
To celebrate the Mini-Set's release, Hearthstone is hosting two exciting streamed events. StarCast, on January 23 at 10 AM PST, will showcase StarCraft legends TrumpSC and Day9 playing with the new cards. Following that, HearthCraft on January 24 at 9 AM PST will feature Hearthstone community creators in faction-based matches and mini-games. Viewers tuning into these events on Twitch can earn two normal and two Golden The Great Dark Beyond packs, making it a must-watch for fans eager to expand their collections.
