MiHoYo has unveiled an exciting new Honkai game that appears to take inspiration from Pokémon-style gameplay. Here's everything shown in the trailer and whether this could be the rumored Honkai Nexus Anima project.
Brand-New Honkai Game Teased
Possibly a Pokémon-like Game

MiHoYo introduced their upcoming game featuring recognizable characters from the Honkai universe. During the Honkai Star Rail Concert livestream on May 4, developers revealed a 20-second teaser showcasing Kiana from Honkai Impact 3rd and Blade from Honkai: Star Rail, both summoning creatures for combat.
The gameplay appears to incorporate Pokémon-style battles, potentially featuring monster-collecting mechanics or auto-chess strategy elements. This direction aligns with MiHoYo's previous creature-focused content in their popular titles.
Both Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail previously introduced creature-focused mechanics that resonated with players. Genshin Impact's Serenitea Pot housing system includes a monster-capturing feature, while the "Fabulous Fungus Frenzy" event allowed players to collect and battle with fungal creatures.

Similarly, Honkai Star Rail's "Aetherium Wars" event utilized turn-based combat with collectible creatures, reminiscent of Pokémon's core gameplay loop.
The teaser concludes with silhouettes suggesting the inclusion of multiple Honkai universe characters, potentially including Star Rail's Aventurine. While primarily featuring Honkai Impact 3rd and Star Rail characters, fans hope for Genshin Impact crossovers as well.
Is this Honkai Nexus Anima?

Speculation suggests this could be the recently trademarked Honkai Nexus Anima project. The timing of MiHoYo's trademark filing and this teaser aligns closely, though no official confirmation exists.
Previous job listings from HoYoVerse in September 2024 hinted at development of anthropomorphic character designs for a chibi-style life simulation game and fantasy spirit companions for the Honkai IP. These positions potentially relate to this new project.

While fans connect these dots to speculate that this might be Honkai Nexus Anima, MiHoYo has made no official announcements. The teaser raises more questions than answers about the game's true nature, but given MiHoYo's track record, players can expect a fresh gaming experience regardless of the final product's name.
