Yesterday, IGN announced that Hollow Knight: Silksong will be playable at an Australian museum in September 2025, along with a sprite sheet from the highly anticipated title. The online reaction, as expected, was immediate and passionate.
"In what possible scenario would creating a sprite of Hornet without her cloak be necessary?" questioned one user in a Reddit thread analyzing the exclusive asset.
Among the dozens of images depicting Silksong's protagonist, Hornet—most showing her in various combat-ready and relaxed stances—one particular sprite stands out. It shows her casually holding her cloak under her arm. A close-up is provided below, but you can also find it on the original sheet on the right-hand side, just below the topmost ring:

"What in-game situation requires her to take off her cloak and carry it like an exhausted dad coming home from work? This is just wrong," remarked one Reddit user.
"Is this for real? There's no way this sprite is actually going to be in Silksong. Is that really what she looks like?" wondered another, while a third exclaimed: "WHAT POSSIBLE REASON COULD THERE BE FOR INCLUDING THIS SPRITE?"
From there, the conversation took a more... enthusiastic turn.
"Well, I guess we won't need to create a mod for that," declared one commenter, with another adding: "This alone might push the rating to ESRB 18+."
"HORNET, PUT YOUR CLOAK BACK ON! THAT'S COMPLETELY INAPPROPRIATE, WHAT IS THIS?" scolded the original poster of another thread. The replies included: "This feels so out of place," and "this is entirely uncalled for."
"I am not a fan of this," stated another user.
For context, the most reasonable explanation might be that Hornet's cloak can be upgraded or changed throughout the game. But for the moment, Hornet enthusiasts, feel free to let your imaginations run wild.

Team Cherry's sequel is currently one of the most anticipated games worldwide, having topped Steam's wishlist charts for years. The game was briefly featured during Nintendo’s Switch 2 Direct last month, and shortly after, Team Cherry confirmed a 2025 release window, much to the relief of their incredibly patient fanbase. With the news that it will be playable at Australia's national screen culture museum, ACMI, starting September 18th, some are speculating a potential launch around August. However, nothing has been officially confirmed yet.
Silksong will be part of the playable lineup at the Melbourne museum's Game Worlds exhibition, which will also feature displays exploring the game's design and artistic direction.
