Rome now boasts Italy's largest video game museum: GAMM, the Game Museum, is officially open to the public. Located in Piazza della Repubblica, it's the brainchild of Marco Accordi Rickards, a writer, journalist, professor, and CEO of Vigamus.
Rickards, a passionate advocate for preserving and celebrating video game culture, describes GAMM as a journey blending history, technology, and interactive gameplay exploration. The museum builds upon the legacy of Vigamus, another Rome-based gaming museum that has attracted over two million visitors since 2012.
GAMM occupies 700 square meters across two floors, divided into three captivating thematic areas. Before exploring the details, take a look at this glimpse of the museum! [ttpp]

The GAMMDOME, a digital playground, features interactive stations alongside real artifacts from gaming history, including consoles, donated items, and other significant objects. Its design is based on the 4E concept: Experience, Exhibition, Education, and Entertainment.
The Path of Arcadia (PARC) transports visitors back to the golden age of arcade games, showcasing classic titles from the late 1970s through the 1980s, with a touch of early 1990s nostalgia.
Finally, the Historical Playground (HIP) delves into the mechanics of game design, allowing visitors to dissect game structures, interaction mechanics, and design rules. Think of it as an exclusive backstage pass to gaming history.
GAMM is open Monday to Thursday from 9:30 AM to 7:30 PM, and Fridays and Saturdays until 11:30 PM. Tickets cost 15 euros. For more information, visit the official GAMM, the Game Museum website.
