Exciting news for fans of the Metal Gear Solid series: Konami has teased the possibility of bringing Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (MGS4) to next-gen consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, potentially marking the first time the game will be playable outside of the PS3. This development has sparked widespread speculation and excitement within the gaming community.
MGS Master Collection Vol.2 Might Include Metal Gear Solid 4 Remake
In an insightful interview with IGN, Konami producer Noriaki Okamura hinted at the inclusion of a remake of Metal Gear Solid 4 in the speculated Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2. When questioned about the possibility of porting the 2008 classic to current platforms, including the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, Okamura acknowledged the fervent interest in the game but remained coy about specific plans.
"We are definitely aware of the situation with MGS4," Okamura stated. "Unfortunately, we can't reveal too much at the moment, especially with Vol. 1 containing MGS 1-3... you can probably connect the dots! We're still internally discussing what we should do for the future of the series. So, we can't really disclose anything right now. But stay tuned!"
The anticipation for MGS4's potential inclusion in Master Collection Vol. 2 stems from last year's release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, which featured remastered versions of the first three games on next-gen platforms, including the PC and Switch. This has led many to believe that an MGS4 PS5 port could soon become a reality.
Rumors about an MGS4 remake gained momentum last year when reports surfaced about placeholder buttons for MGS4, MGS5, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker on Konami's official Metal Gear Solid timeline page. IGN further reported that these titles are likely candidates for the yet-to-be-announced Master Collection Vol. 2, though Konami has not officially confirmed this.
Adding fuel to the speculation, David Hayter, the English voice actor for Solid Snake, hinted on social media last November about his involvement in a project related to MGS4, stirring further excitement among fans. As of now, Konami has kept details about the contents and plans for a potential MGS4 remake in Master Collection Vol. 2 under wraps.
