Nintendo's Latest Announcement: A LEGO Game Boy!
Nintendo and LEGO have teamed up again, this time creating a LEGO Game Boy! Launching October 2025, this follows the successful LEGO NES set.
While exciting news for fans, the announcement on X (formerly Twitter) sparked much discussion, overshadowing the anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 reveal. Many joked that the LEGO Game Boy was the "new console" announcement.
Although details about the Switch 2 remain scarce, Nintendo President Furukawa confirmed in May 2024 that a successor announcement would be made within the fiscal year (ending March). Patience is key!
Pricing for the LEGO Game Boy is yet to be revealed, with further information promised in the coming weeks/months.
Past Nintendo & LEGO Collaborations
Beyond the NES, the Nintendo-LEGO partnership has brought iconic characters from franchises like Super Mario, Animal Crossing, and The Legend of Zelda to life in LEGO form.
Last May, a 2,500-piece LEGO set featuring the Great Deku Tree (from Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild) was released, including Zelda and the Master Sword. This set retails at $299.99 USD.
Two months later, a Super Mario World LEGO set debuted, showcasing a pixelated Mario riding Yoshi. A rotating crank animates Yoshi's leg. This set is priced at $129.99 USD.
