Meta Quest Pro Officially Discontinued; Meta Quest 3 Takes the Helm

Meta has officially pulled the plug on the Meta Quest Pro, confirming its discontinuation on its website. The news follows earlier announcements predicting depleted stock by early 2025. While the Meta Quest Pro enjoyed some success, its high price tag of $1,499.99 significantly hindered wider adoption, both by consumers and businesses. This contrasted sharply with the more affordable Meta Quest line, priced between $299.99 and $499.99.

With remaining inventory now exhausted, Meta directs potential buyers to the Meta Quest 3, touted as the “ultimate mixed reality experience.” While a few stray Quest Pro units might linger on store shelves, securing one is increasingly unlikely.

The Meta Quest 3: A Worthy Successor

The Meta Quest 3 offers a compelling alternative, boasting many of the Quest Pro's features at a significantly lower price point of $499. Like its predecessor, the Quest 3 prioritizes mixed reality, seamlessly blending virtual and real-world environments.

In several key aspects, the Quest 3 actually surpasses the Quest Pro. It's lighter, boasts higher resolution and refresh rate, promising a more comfortable and immersive experience. Furthermore, the Quest Pro's Touch Pro controllers are compatible with the Quest 3. For budget-conscious users, the Meta Quest 2S offers a more affordable entry point at $299.99, albeit with slightly reduced specifications.
