Author : Benjamin May 18,2025

For fans of Magic: The Gathering eagerly awaiting the upcoming Final Fantasy set, June might feel like a distant dream. However, Wizards of the Coast has just given us a tantalizing sneak peek at over a dozen brand-new cards from the set, featuring iconic characters such as Sephiroth, Yuffie, Cecil, Garland, Chaos, and more. This exciting reveal not only showcases new cards but also includes a variety of art variations, complementing the four commander cards we've already seen: Tidus, Cloud, Y'shtola, and Terra.

Among the highlights are powerful legendary cards like Sephiroth and Cecil, alongside a fresh take on the Food token art. Additionally, we get to admire art variations on cards such as Stilzkin, Moogle Merchant; Sin, Spira's Punishment; and Summon: Shiva. You can explore the full gallery below:

Today's reveal also introduces some unique features of the set, including Summons, which are part of Magic's first-ever Saga creatures that players can summon for assistance in battle (check out Summon: Shiva in the gallery). Moreover, double-faced cards make a comeback, as exemplified by Cecil's dual nature as a Dark Knight and a Redeemed Paladin.

The Final Fantasy set will boast over 100 legendary creature cards, with 55 of them being legendary borderless cards, illustrated by beloved artists from the Final Fantasy series. This set is not only fully draftable but also Standard-legal, and it will launch alongside four preconstructed Commander decks, each themed around a different Final Fantasy game: 6, 7, 10, and 14. Each deck will contain 100 cards, blending new Final Fantasy cards with existing cards featuring new Final Fantasy art. Mark your calendars for the set's release on June 13.
