"Magic: The Gathering Final Fantasy Starter Kit Preorders Restocked on Amazon"

Author : David May 15,2025

One of the most eagerly anticipated trading card crossovers in recent years, Magic: The Gathering Final Fantasy, is set to launch on June 13, 2025. The only set still readily available from major retailers is the Starter Kit, which is now back in stock and available for preorder on Amazon for just $19.87. UK readers can secure theirs for £15.99. With other sets sold out and some individual cards fetching over $500, it's wise to secure your preorder before they disappear faster than a Chocobo on the run.

The hype surrounding this set has been building since its announcement, and a new trailer has only intensified the excitement. In the singles market, prices are soaring; for instance, the borderless version of Cloud, Midgar Mercenary, is currently listed at $147.23, while its Surge Foil counterpart is commanding a staggering $599, making it the priciest card in the Final Fantasy set.

If you've already preordered or are on the hunt for rare singles, there are several standout cards to watch in the coming weeks. The stunning borderless Kefka, Court Mage, showcased in the new MTG teaser trailer from PAX East, features artwork by the legendary Final Fantasy artist, Yoshitaka Amano.

TCG Player is a fantastic resource for acquiring a wide range of individual cards, allowing you to enhance your deck without relying on luck from booster packs. It's also an excellent tool for assessing the value of your cards post-release, especially if you're lucky enough to pull any Surge Foil cards from your booster pack preorders.

Prices are dynamic and can fluctuate closer to the release date, so staying vigilant is key. Other noteworthy cards to watch for in booster packs or to purchase individually include the Cloud, Ex-Soldier Commander card, currently priced at $45.99, which is highly valued for its ability to equip other creatures on the battlefield.

The full-art version of Yuffie Kisaragi - Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow, is another highlight, priced just under $100 due to its utility as a Commander and its rarity, particularly in its classic late 90’s Final Fantasy VII art style.

For those interested in the more exclusive cards, the borderless version of Traveling Chocobo is priced at $169.98, while its standard version is slightly more affordable at $114.97. The Traveling Chocobo even had its own teaser trailer featuring a limited edition Gold Chocobo.

While the hunt for rare cards can be costly, TCG Player offers more affordable options, such as Sazh’s Chocobo for $1.96, Tonberry for $2.49, Summon: Shiva for $1.56, and Gladiolus Amicitia for just 33 cents.

TCG Player also provides preorders for select Final Fantasy booster sets, though these are priced above MSRP. You can find the nine-booster Final Fantasy bundle (plus bonus cards) for $87.99 and a 30-pack Play Booster Display box for $164.99, both with additional shipping costs. Single sealed boosters are available for $7.99 each, plus shipping.

For those preordering the Starter Kit, it's important to note that each deck is preconstructed and does not include booster packs, meaning no surprise $600 cards. Instead, the kit contains one traditional foil legendary creature, five brand-new non-foil cards exclusive to Magic, and 54 cards from the main set.

The kit also includes four non-foil double-sided tokens, two MTG Arena code cards (one per deck), and two deck boxes, offering great value for the $20 price tag. For new players, the Arena code cards are particularly beneficial, allowing you to redeem both decks for online play, where you can learn the game at your own pace through AI matches or engage in competitive play.
