Mai Shiranui Boosts Street Fighter 6 Popularity

Street Fighter 6 enthusiasts have eagerly returned to the game to test out a new fighter, Mai Shiranui, known from the Fatal Fury series. This latest addition marks a significant milestone for Capcom's acclaimed fighting game, which has sold an impressive 4.4 million copies as of December 31, 2024. Despite some fan feedback regarding the frequency of new content, the developers have delighted the community with this latest character introduction.

Mai Shiranui, the third fighter introduced in the second season, has significantly boosted the game's popularity. On the day of her release, Steam's peak concurrent players soared to over 63,000, a sharp increase from the usual 24,000 to 27,000, marking the highest peak since May 2024. This surge underscores the impact of Mai's inclusion in the game.

Players who hold a Battle Pass can access Mai Shiranui. In the World Tour mode, players can develop relationships with her, learn her unique moves, and then put their skills to the test in the Battle Hub. Additionally, a second costume inspired by her look from Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves has been added to her wardrobe, offering fans another way to enjoy this beloved character.

The excitement doesn't stop there. The Battle Hub also welcomes a temporary guest, Professor Woshige, a renowned developer and legend in the fighting game community. Players can try out this special character until March 10. Alongside these additions, the game has introduced new Master League ranks and rewards, further enriching the player experience.

To showcase Mai's dynamic techniques, Capcom has released a captivating trailer that highlights her skills and integration into Street Fighter 6's vibrant world.
