Stun the Monster
One of the most daunting aspects of facing Ebony Odogaron is its breakneck speed. To counter this, stunning the monster is crucial. You can exploit the environment by triggering a nearby Flashfly to temporarily immobilize it. Additionally, crafting Flash Pods can give you the edge needed to stun and safely attack the beast.
Bring Teammates
Tackling Ebony Odogaron solo can be overwhelming due to its relentless attacks. Bringing teammates into the fray is highly recommended. Use SOS signals to call for backup; if no players join, NPCs can serve as valuable distractions. With their help, you can focus on dodging and striking when the monster shifts its focus away from you.
Pull Down Entangled Rocks
During the battle, you'll encounter an area with Entangled Rocks overhead. Utilize your slinger to bring these down, stunning Ebony Odogaron for a few precious seconds. This tactic is a one-time opportunity per fight, but combined with Pitfall and Shock Traps, you can immobilize the monster up to three times.
Beware of Dragonblight
Ebony Odogaron can inflict Dragonblight, a status effect that hampers your ability to deal elemental or status damage. To counteract this, carry Nulberries or equip decorations with Level 3 Dragon Resistance or Blight Resistance to mitigate its effects.
Inflict Paralysis
Paralyzing Ebony Odogaron is a game-changer, as it immobilizes the monster for a short time, allowing you to land significant blows. If you can knock it down near roots, the monster might become further entangled, giving you extended windows to attack.
Aim for the Head
The head of Ebony Odogaron is its most vulnerable spot, with a 3-star weakness rating. While targeting it maximizes damage, it also puts you at risk. Alternatively, aim for the forelegs and tail to safely deal damage and potentially break these parts.
