Want to conquer the formidable Quematrice in *Monster Hunter Wilds* without getting scorched or losing your precious meat? Don’t worry, brave hunter, we've got you covered. In this guide, we'll dive deep into its weaknesses, effective strategies, dangerous attacks to dodge, and the best methods to not only defeat but also capture this fiery beast.

How to Beat Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds

Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds

The Quematrice, a giant chicken-like monster reminiscent of the Cockatrice, fortunately breathes fire instead of petrifying its foes. As a mid-sized monster, it's vulnerable to most weapon types, though its area-based attacks make ranged weapons a safer choice for less experienced hunters.

When it comes to its attacks, be wary of its tail strikes and sweeps, which can deal significant damage, especially the tail slam. This move sees the Quematrice lifting its tail high before slamming it down. You can avoid this by sidestepping or blocking. However, the real danger lies in its fire-based attacks, which not only inflict immediate damage but can set you ablaze, causing continuous health drain and igniting the ground around you.

These fire attacks can be tricky to anticipate. One such attack involves the Quematrice rearing its head and roaring before expelling flames from its tail. Another is a sweeping motion where it roars and lifts its head and tail, engulfing its surroundings in fire. It can also perform this as part of a charge, running towards you before turning to unleash fire. If you're using a ranged weapon, start moving backward as soon as you see it charging to evade the flames.

How to Capture Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds

Capturing Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds

To capture the Quematrice, you'll need to equip yourself with the right tools: a Shock Trap, a Pitfall Trap, and at least two Tranq Bombs. While one trap is technically sufficient, having a backup is advisable in *Monster Hunter* games, especially if the monster escapes or if another creature triggers it.

Once the Quematrice is sufficiently weakened and starts limping, or you notice the skull icon intermittently appearing on the mini-map, it's time to set your trap. Ideally, wait until it has moved to a new area after limping away, as this simplifies the process. Position your trap, lure the Quematrice into it, and then throw two Tranq Bombs to secure your capture.
