Currently, 4A Games is working on two major projects: the next Metro game and a new IP. While details about the new IP remain under wraps, the developers have shared some insights into the development of the next Metro title. The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has profoundly influenced the game's narrative direction. As mentioned in their studio update, "As we said in our last studio update, in 2022 a full-scale Russian invasion changed how we wanted to tell the story of the next Metro game. As art became life for many of our developers in Ukraine, we drew from that lived experience to create an even darker story, those themes already present in Metro becoming ever-more apparent and important."
