Unlocking Multiple Pets in Stardew Valley
Initially, you can adopt one pet (cat or dog). The 1.6 update introduced the ability to have multiple pets. To unlock this, you must maximize your existing pet's friendship. This involves:
- Daily Watering: Fill your pet's bowl daily (except on rainy/snowy days).
- Daily Petting: Interact with your pet to receive a heart bubble.
Check your pet's friendship level in the "Animals" tab of the pause menu. Once maxed, Marnie will email you, granting access to additional pets (or at the start of Year 2 if you skipped the initial pet adoption).

For each new pet, commission a Pet Bowl from Robin (5,000g and 25 Hardwood). This serves as their home and prevents friendship decay. Marnie's shop offers optional decorative items like doghouses and cat trees.
